Accessibility statement
Last updated: September 25, 2026
Everyone in Ward 7 deserves to be able to read this campaign's platform and take part in the election, including people with disabilities. In the spirit of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and Ontario's Integrated Accessibility Standards, this site is built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.
What this site does
- Every page can be navigated fully with a keyboard, with a visible focus indicator and a "skip to main content" link.
- Headings, landmarks and labels are structured for screen readers, and all form fields have visible text labels.
- Images carry text alternatives, and purely decorative elements (such as the reading-progress rail) are hidden from screen readers.
- Buttons announce their state: the donation amount buttons tell screen readers which amount is selected.
- The voter-list button, which opens the Town's site in a new tab, says so right beside it.
- Text and background colours meet WCAG contrast requirements, and text can be resized to at least 200% without loss of content.
- The only animations are brief fade-ins and number count-ups as you scroll. They are switched off entirely if your device is set to reduce motion, and the full text and figures are always in the page.
- The layout works on phones, tablets and desktops, and the site works with JavaScript turned off.
- Nothing flashes, autoplays or scrolls on its own, and no time limits are placed on reading or on filling in the form.
- The Sources and references list can be collapsed on small screens; following any footnote opens it automatically.
Known limitations
- External sources. The Sources and references section links to documents and news articles on other organizations' websites (the Town of Innisfil, Simcoe County, the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority, local news outlets), some of them PDFs. We cannot control the accessibility of those sites. If a linked source is not accessible to you, contact us and we will summarize its relevant content for you.
- Donations. Donations are processed on Stripe's secure checkout page, which is run by Stripe, not the campaign. If you have trouble completing a donation there, email us and we will help you give another way.
- Choosing an amount without JavaScript. With JavaScript turned off, the donate button uses the default $50 amount. Email us if you would like to give a different amount.
- Voter list and social media. The "Check my registration" button opens the Town of Innisfil's voter list, and the Facebook link opens Facebook. Both are run by those organizations.
Feedback and alternate formats
If any part of this site is difficult for you to use, or if you would like the platform in another format, such as large print, plain text by email, or read over the phone, contact the campaign and we will provide it, free of charge, as quickly as we can:
- Email: ritadward7@gmail.com
Accessibility feedback is welcome at any time and will be answered promptly. The same applies to campaign events: if you need an accommodation to attend or participate, tell us and we will arrange it.
Voting accessibly
Voting in the 2026 Innisfil municipal election runs October 16 to 26, 2026, online (by computer, tablet or smartphone) or by touch-tone telephone, so you can vote from home using the device and assistive technology you already use. The Town of Innisfil is responsible for accessible voting arrangements, including any in-person voting help and accommodations. See innisfil.ca/elections or contact the Town Clerk's office for details.
